Clean & Green Singapore (South West)

Singapore held environmental themed carnivals under the National Environment Agency's Clean and Green Singapore campaign. It kicked off on the 26 October in Serangoon and then it was taken to the heartlands. We popped over to the carnival in the South West region over the weekend and joined in the fun.

I think the kids were the most excited. There were lots of eco-activities, including paper-making, decorations from plastic bottles, terrarium-making and t-shirt jewelry.  My son got roped in to help out at the recycling awareness booth - who says kids can't be volunteers?

My booth! I was there on Saturday for 4 hours. I taught the participants the basic steps to making a bracelet and earrings from t-shirts, and left them to get creative.

The lady in brown was at my booth for over an hour!

The bracelets were very popular with the kids as the bracelets could be made in less than 15 minutes.

Some of the very creative creations by the participants.

The public also had a chance to give the new mascot a name. My son decided to call him "Captain Green". Let's hope that's the public's pick!

There's still a chance to take part this weekend. The CGS will be at City Square Mall (Farrer Park MRT) on 23 - 24 November.

  1. You're creative in upcycling. The bracelets are chic and pretty. Good to promote the green theme.
